More Best of 2004

Now I know why I didn't make a list this year. The younger me is such a d-bag. Who creates a list then tells everybody that there were other albums that didn't make the top ten? Who did I think I was?

Of these, Elliott Smith and Franz Ferdinand should have been in the top ten. And I really hate that Usher song, so it shouldn't be anywhere near the top of the "Best Singles" list.

Bubbling Under:

11. Van Lear Rose by Loretta Lynn

12. From A Basement On The Hill by Elliott Smith

13. Franz Ferdinand by Franz Ferdinand

14. You Are The Quarry by Morrissey

15. Scissor Sisters by Scissor Sisters

16. White People by Handsome Boy Modeling School

17. Now Here Is Nowhere by The Secret Machines

18. She Loves You by The Twilight Singers

19. To The 5 Boroughs by The Beastie Boys

20. A Ghost Is Born by Wilco

Top Twenty Songs

1. “Float On” by Modest Mouse

2. “Closer In Da Club” by Nine Inch Nails vs. 50 Cent (this probably came out in 2003, but I heard it for the first time at The Velvet Underground in January of 2004; there is nothing cooler than a hyped up drunk crowd dancing to the beat of “Closer” while 50 Cent is rapping over top—probably the last cool mash-up we’ll hear for a while)

3. “Yeah!” By Usher

4. “Somebody Told Me” by Killers

5. “What You Waitin’ For (Jacque LeCompte Remix)” by Gwen Stefani

6. “Fit But You Know It” by The Streets

7. “Comfortably Numb” by Scissor Sisters

8. “Somewhere Only We Know” by Keane

9. “Take Me Out” by Franz Ferdinand

10. “Late Greats” by Wilco

11. “Club Foot” by Kasabian

13. “C’mon C’mon” by Von Bondies

14. “Surfing On A Rocket” by Air

15. “Teenage Kicks” by Ash

16. “Encore” by Jay-Z and The Beatles vs. Danger Mouse

17. “Cause=Time” by Broken Social Scene

18. “Jesus Walks” by Kanye West

19. “If You Leave” by Nada Surf

20. “Drop It Like It’s Hot” by Snoop Dogg
